System Administrator DevOps
In line with Genetwister’s continued growth, we are looking for a System Administrator/DevOps to join our team in Wageningen.
Your Role
As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of Genetwister’s IT infrastructure and equipment in both our research and office environments. This includes installing hardware and software, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring data safety, performing backup operations, and providing user support. You will report to our experienced System Administrator and collaborate closely with the Bioinformatics & Software Development team to support the development, maintenance, and monitoring of our microservice infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and configure hardware and software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- Ensure data safety and perform backup operations.
- Provide user support and technical assistance.
- Collaborate with the Bioinformatics & Software Development team on infrastructure development and monitoring.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience programming with an object-oriented language (preferably Java).
- Familiarity with container orchestration, microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools.
- Knowledge of Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related systems.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn in a dynamic, international environment.
- Hands-on, pragmatic, flexible, and proactive approach.
- Proficient in English.
- Experience with or an understanding of distributed computing is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
- A team player who enjoys working in a cross-disciplinary environment.

Genetwister offers a dynamic, challenging role in a commercial research environment, working with a team passionate about innovation and application. The position is based in Wageningen and is not fully remote, though partial work-from-home is available according to our policy.

Are you studying plant sciences, bioinformatics or computer science at the bachelor’s or master’s level and are you interested in an internship in our company in the Genomics, Breeding and Genetics, Bioinformatics or Software Development team, please let us know!
Our offer: an internship of at least six months supervised by a dedicated experienced scientist.
You will receive an internship allowance paid on a monthly basis.
Genetwister’s interns work on their own research question and have the opportunity to interact with all employees to maximize their learning experience. Intensive coaching ensures optimal progress of your project.
